How FUWUKARI Calculates Your Aggregate Score

FUWUKARI calculates your aggregate score by combining your JAMB UTME score and your Post-UTME score.

The university uses a 50:50 ratio, where 50% of your aggregate score comes from your JAMB UTME score and the remaining 50% comes from your Post-UTME score.

This means that it divides your JAMB UTME score is by 8, while it divides your Post-UTME score is by 2.

The two scores are then added together to give you your total aggregate score.

For example, if you scored 250 in JAMB UTME and 70 in Post-UTME, your aggregate score would be calculated as follows:

(250 ÷ 8 = 31.25) + (70 ÷ 2 = 35) = 66.25.

This aggregate score is what FUWUKARI uses to determine your admission status.

If you fall to the list of candidates having an aggregate score that meets or exceeds the departmental cut-off mark, you position yourself for the institution to consider you for admission.

How FUWUKARI Determines Departmental Cut-Off Mark

FUWUKARI determines departmental cut-off marks based on the performance of candidates in the Post-UTME screening exercise and the carrying capacity of each department. The process involves:

  • Calculating the total aggregate score of all candidates who applied for a particular program.
  • Ranking the candidates in order of merit (highest aggregate score to lowest).
  • Determining the carrying capacity of each department (the maximum number of students that can be admitted).
  • Selecting the top candidates who meet the carrying capacity, starting from the highest aggregate score.

The aggregate score of the last candidate admitted into a department becomes the departmental cut-off mark.

This means that the departmental cut-off mark varies from year to year and depends on the performance of candidates and the carrying capacity of each department

next step if you didn't meet the cutoff mark

Change your course: Consider changing to a less competitive course with a lower cut-off mark, if you meet the requirements.

Wait for supplementary list: Wait for the supplementary admission list, which includes candidates who didn’t meet the initial cut-off mark.

Change to other universities: Consider applying to other universities with similar courses and lower cut-off marks.

Consider post-UTME coaching: Prepare for next year’s Post-UTME by attending coaching classes or studying intensively.

Explore JAMB change of institution: Change your institution to a polytechnic or college of education, if you’re interested in a different type of program.

Gap year programs: Consider taking a gap year to gain work experience, skills, or retake JAMB/Post-UTME.
