How FUOYE Calculates Your Aggregate Score
It’s simple. FUOYE considers your UTME score, post UTME score, and your O’Level result (WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB). Your UTME score takes 50%, post UTME receives 40% while the remaining 10% goes to your O’Level. The addition of the three forms your aggregate and it is what the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti considers to offer you admission.
If your UTME score is low, you can still leverage on the post UTME and O’Level to boost your chances of gaining admission.
Here’s the overall calculation:
Aggregate = (UTME score ÷ 8) + post UTME score + O’Level points.
It’s quite easy to know your O’Level point.
- A1 attracts 2.0 points
- B2 attracts 1.8 points
- B3 gets 1.6 points
- C4 takes 1.4 points
- C5 receives 1.2 points
- C6 manages 1.0 points
Now assume your UTME score is 240, post UTME score is 30 out of 40 and you have 5 A1s (total of 10 points) in required O’Level subject, your aggregate score is going to be:
Aggregate = (240÷8) + 30 + 10 = 30 + 30 + 10 = 70.0
That means you have a total aggregate score of 70.0%. You can then compare the percentage with the cutoff mark of the course you choose.
How UNIBEN Determines Departmental Cut-Off Mark
- Aim higher than the cut-off: While the cut-off mark serves as a minimum requirement, scoring slightly higher increases your chances of securing a spot, especially in competitive programs.
- Prepare for post-UTME screening: Many universities conduct post-UTME tests or screenings after UTME. Factor in this additional hurdle when strategizing your preparation.
- Review past UTME papers: Familiarize yourself with the format and difficulty level of UTME questions by reviewing past papers. This can help you identify areas that need improvement and develop a strong test-taking strategy.
- Practice consistently: Regular practice is key to improving your UTME score. Use various resources like mock exams, question banks, and past papers to consistently challenge yourself.
- Know your target school and course: Different universities and courses have varying cut-off marks. Researching these requirements early helps you set a realistic target score and tailor your studying accordingly.
