How MOUAU Calculates Your Aggregate Score

Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU) calculates the aggregate score for admission using a combination of UTME (Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination) and O’Level results.

The university uses the UTME score as a percentage by dividing the score by 8.

For example, if your UTME score is 250, it will be calculated as (250/8) = 31.25%.

Additionally, MOUAU uses the five relevant subjects to calculate the O’Level aggregate, grading each subject on a 6-point scale, with A (A1) = 6 points, B (B2, B3) = 4 points, C (C4, C5, C6) = 3 points, D (D7) = 2 points, E (E8) = 1 point, and F (F9) = 0 points.

The total O’Level aggregate is calculated by adding the points of the five relevant subjects, and then converted to a percentage by dividing by 30 (the maximum possible points).

For example, if your O’Level aggregate is 22 points, it will be calculated as:

(22/30) x 100% = 73.33%.

Finally, the UTME score percentage and O’Level percentage are added together to get the total aggregate score.

MOUAU uses a 50:50 ratio for UTME and O’Level scores, respectively, meaning that the UTME score carries 50% weight, while the O’Level score carries 50% weight in the calculation of the aggregate score.

What to Do if You Didn't Meet MOUAU Cut-Off Mark

Consider other universities: Look into other universities that offer your desired course and have a lower cut-off mark. You may still meet their admission requirements.

Change your course: If you really want to attend MOUAU, consider changing to a less competitive course with a lower cut-off mark.

Take a gap year: Use the time to retake UTME, prepare better, and improve your O’Level results (if possible).

Apply for JUPEB or Pre-Degree programs: MOUAU offers JUPEB (Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board) and Pre-Degree programs, which can help you gain admission into the university the following year.

Pursue a diploma or certificate program: MOUAU offers diploma and certificate programs in various fields. Completing one of these programs can increase your chances of admission into the university later.

Seek admission into a polytechnic or college of education: Consider attending a polytechnic or college of education, which may have lower admission requirements. You can always transfer to a university later.
